2021/22 Selected Scholarship Recipients List issued on 14.06.2024 by the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund and the eligible students Should submit their Bank Account Details (Bank of Ceylon or People's Bank) online log into the MTF Website www.mahapola.lk using the following link http://www.mahapola.lk/BankApp/.

After you complete your application please submit a printout of the application along with the Bank Passbook Copy to the University.

Amendment of Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act No. 66 of 1981 and Re-name as Lalith Athulathmudali Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund

lalith atulatmdali pc13The Scholarship since its inception was called Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund. It was decided to name the fund after its founder Lalith Athulathmudali.

Accordingly, on, the Cabinet of Ministers approved above Cabinet memorandum to amend the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund name and section 15 of the act as follows.

  • To re-name of the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund to “Lalith Atulathmudali Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund ”
  • Amend section 15 of the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act No. 66 of 1981 to include an additional provision in the said Lalith Athulathmudali Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act No.66 of 1981 “That all officers and servants of the Fund including the Trustees shall be deemed to be Public Servants within the meaning and for the proposes of the penal code and shall be subject to the provision of the offenses against the Public Property Act No.12 of 1982.”

Over the last 35 years since the commencement of the Mahapola Scholarship awarding, the required funds for monthly scholarship installments payment, Mahapola fund contribution were transferred to respective universities and the university contribution was paid by the available recurrent allocation.
